A Snowy, Wonderful Weekend: Photos

Our Christmas tree

The Christmas weekend in Chicago started out as sloppy and rainy on Christmas Eve. But E. and I had a great time, going to our church’s candlelight service, baking snickerdoodles and watching It’s a Wonderful Life.

On Christmas Day, it poured most of the day. It was pretty gross. But the two us went to the opening of the movie Sherlock Holmes, ate a delicious roast opened our pile of gifts. E. blessed me with a bunch of books on writing and some running gear.

It finally snowed the day after Christmas…a scenic, fluffy snow that left behind about a foot of powder. Early that morning E. and I went for a 3 mile hike at one of the many wooded areas near our home and spent the rest of the day indoors reading.

The day after the snowstorm was gorgeous. The sun came out, so we went for a drive and took some lovely photos. I may even frame and hang a few.

Hope your weekend was just a enjoyable!

It's finally snowing!

Ah, I’m finally getting back in the writing groove. My son didn’t call me to say he missed his flight connection in Charlotte, so I’m assuming he’s on his flight back to Boston right now.

We went to DC for Christmas, where they had record-breaking snow. I’ll post a couple of pictures later.

After a lifetime living on the shores of Lake Ontario, western MA, Wisconsin, and Boston, I gotta say I LOVE my North Carolina ocean!!!!!

Glad your back and hope you had a great, long weekend!! I’m looking forward to seeing your photos, too.

I am really trying to get motivated to hit the beginning of the year with some real writing gusto, but so far the motivation is missing…

Great photos! I’m with DS, much too cold for me. I spent enough time in the snow to last a lifetime. I’m glad you’re enjoying it for all of us. I’ll just keep enjoying the snow on my blog.

Sometimes I think it would be great to live in a place that was temperate all the time (usually around February)…but really, I do love when it snows. Not to mention the leaves in the fall. I think I’d miss it too much!

The beauty of California is the ocean is a short drive in one direction and the snow and mountains are a short drive in the other direction.
I lived in Alaska for a long time and I don’t think I would ever want to live in the snow like that. Visiting is nice though.

Brrrrr…I need to go make a cup of cocoa after looking at these dreamy white photos. A three mile walk in the snow? Are you nuts? My nose is all numb, cold, and runny just thinking about it.

The pictures are beautiful and I am so happy you are enjoying yourself this holiday.

LOL! I have the warmest coat and boots and it wasn’t too bad. There was no wind, which makes ALL the difference. It was so peaceful and it snowed the whole time. Erich and I decided we’re going to try snowshoeing this winter.

How can I possibly convince you, anyway, you southern girl?! 😀

Every year I dream of going to see the snow for Christmas. It’s something that I’d love to experience at least once in my lifetime. My husband promises me we’ll go when we can. I believe him. He is a promise keeper.

Tonight the low is projected at 39 degrees in central Florida, even the Space Shuttle will have heaters to keep it warm. Gosh we are wimps. LOL

Well, it’s good you didn’t come here for Christmas to see the snow, because it rained from the December 23 – 25th. Ugh! But we did get snow back on the 26th. You should go somewhere beautiful like Vancouver…
