Friday flash 55: #35

She picked up the blue notebook and touched it to her cheek. She flipped open the pages while they were still clean and white and cool, the blue lines floating across them, beckoning her pen. This was always her favorite day, just before she wrote in a new notebook.

“Becky,” her mother called, “you’ll be late for school!”

I have to force myself to avoid the stationary section in the store when I go. I have so many notebooks and I keep buying more. It’s just so nice to crack open a fresh new notebook. 🙂

New notebooks are one of the joys of having opposible thumbs.

Oh, the joy – paralleled by opening up a new jar of peanut butter and looking at the smoothness on top. Being the first one to dip into it. The thought of it even now, bringing such satisfaction that I must inhale deeply and exhale.

Yes! New notebooks and journals bring that same feeling. Now I know why. It’s the writer in me.

(By the way, gazing on the post image brings the same sense of satisfaction. Great choice!)

That was the best part of going back to school. New notebooks and pens and boxes of crayons.

Nice! I guess writers have a particular affinity for that new notebook thing!

Thanks, PW! I always loved the start of a new school year. It was honestly one of my favorite times of the year. So much potential! It usually wore off my mid-October, but I loved it while it lasted!

I still feel that way about a new notebook.
