Friday Flash 55 #24

Brown curls fell around Mara’s cherry cheeks as she untucked several hairpins and tossed them into a dish on her dresser. She leaned in to the mirror and pulled the red stain across her mouth, loving and hating her beauty at once.

Checking that the top two buttons of her dress were undone, she folded the clutch under her arm and left.

Oh, I love the way you say so much with so few words here! Definitely want to find out what happens next!

Thanks, Natasha! I am so stuck on this story, but I’ve been trying to write little scenes as they come to me, hoping the story will advance itself.

This is excellent. I love when the Flash 55s are based on our novels. It gives me an idea of what I have to look forward to.

This leaves me asking so many questions. Harlot or desperate for love? Tired of bad relationships or to independent to find that one true love? This would make a great opening for a short story. I want to read on to find out more about this character. Do I want to love her or hate her? Nice setup.

Looks like Mara is up to nothing but trouble tonight!
