Flash Friday: 100 in April

Derrek walks slowly to the plate, bat in hand. He taps the dirt and holds the bat out, sighting the bleachers. The ivy isn’t in, but just over centerfield is his favorite place to go over the wall. He squints, sets his leg back and when the pitcher tosses, he kicks and swings, feeling the ball vibrate from the tip of the bat all the way to his core.

You’ve done a Flash about baseball before–or at least it was about going to a game. I remember.
    This is a good one!

I did, I think it was my first flash and it was about one of the typical girls who goes to a game only to look hot for the guys at the game (she doesn’t care at all about the Cubs). Ridiculous!

I’m always amazed how you flash 55 writers can just capture moments so well. I’m daunted by the whole flash fiction movement.

    Great job!

You should try it!! It’s a little scary at first, but it really challenges you to tell a descriptive story in very few words. It’s a cool exercise!

THis is the second time you have mentioned baseball in the last week, so you must be a FAN! You captured the moment!

How cute and creative. I could feel his grip on the bat.
