For Those Who Want the Answer…

I’m sure most of my readers don’t care who the skater was in my post from yesterday. But I’m certain there’s at least one person who can’t stand when a test question is given and they don’t know the answer!

So here it is:
The photo is of Ekaterina Gordeeva skating for the first time after her husband and skating partner, Sergei Grinkov, died suddenly. She’s skating to Mahler No. 5. It’s absolutely THE most heart-wrenching and emotional performance I’ve ever seen, skating, dancing or otherwise, which is why I used it to make my point about being pulled in by a story.

Click on the photo to see the video…

Note: Gordeeva & Grinkov won the gold medal for pairs in the 1988 and 1994 Olympics.

Geesh. Nothing like a good old cry fest at 8 in the morning.

I wish I had watched the video first and read the story second. Now I have to go wash my face.

Sorry! 😀 The story is what makes the program so gut wrenchingly sad. But I still think, without the story, it’s sill touching and beautiful.

It’s like good writing…you can tell it just when you start reading it. Like when you open the first chapter of a book and you’re immediately pulled in…

Yeah, I would have never guessed. It was a beautiful program.

I am a complete skating nerd (I used to be a skater when I was young, so that’s where it started).

It’s sort of like an avid Harry Potter fan asking me about a certain character from the books. I would have no clue.
